Our Story

Our story starts with our Founder and CEO, Joslynn Peterson. Growing up, she knew a few simple facts about the women in her family: her grandmother died of breast cancer in her mid-thirties, her great-aunt died of ovarian cancer and her aunt died of primary peritoneal cancer. During a routine exam at the gynecologist in 2016, Joslynn’s doctor urged her to investigate this further. Even at 25 years old, her fate could be tied to the matriarchs in her family.

After a few rounds of tests, Joslynn learned that she had the BRCA1 mutation. About 5 months later, Joslynn underwent surgery — a prophylactic double mastectomy — to proactively reduce her risk of developing breast cancer.

Joslynn’s previvor journey inspired her to support others in their fight with breast cancer, partnering with women’s health organizations and providing personalized strength training to women pre- and post-mastectomy.

In 2025, Joslynn founded Renewed Poppy to inspire and educate women about women’s health while bringing joy to the lives of those fighting breast cancer.
